This year I am focusing a lot on my writing center. I wanted to make sure the students had many resources available but I wanted them to be organized. I came up with The Writing Tower!
This is my writing center for this year and I used black crates to create my writing tower.
You can get the Writing Tower posters at my TPT store in both chevron or polka dots.
The following items are also included in the bundle...
ARMS Posters
CUPS Posters
Writing Process Posters/Clip Chart

Classroom Management Magnet Board
I have seen these all over the internet and decided to create my own today. I found all the materials at Walmart! In order to make this you need the following materials.
Materials:
1 cookie sheet- 5.97 at Wal-Mart (bigger sizes available for under $10)
1 roll Duck Tape- I used one roll but if you want several different colors or patterns that is up to you- 3.97 at Wal-Mart
ruler
sharpie
scissors
1- 2 packs magnet tape or circles (depends on class size)
* If you want to create a board with more patterns or colors like mine they have the following items at Wal-Mart*
Wal-Mart now has patterned scotch tape for 2.88 a roll. There are about 35 different styles. Colorful vinyl magnets also available for 2.97.
First you need to trace your squares on the cookie sheet. This makes it easy to place the tape where you want it.
Next you place your duck tape around the squares you traced on the cookie sheet.
I recommend taping down the sides of the duck tape on the back just to keep it more secure and less likely to peel off the front.
Next you add your pretty tape if you choose to or whatever design you want to create with tape or other materials.
I chose to create headers and write numbers on the magnets. This is my finished product. As you can see I am absolutely Polkaddicted!
You can choose to use this in the same way or there are other ways to use the cookie sheet as shown below. Enjoy!

Long time no Post! Polka Dot Classroom Stuff!
Hello All! Its been a while since I posted. I have just been so busy working on products for my TPT store, working out, and spending time with family. Here is bit of what I have been working on. Since I last posted I have a created quite a bit. Here is the latest of my polka dot products.
I have been waiting a while to create this. I thought of this idea in the middle of the school year but did not want to change my word wall style in the middle of the year. Next year, I will be teaching 2nd grade so I will implement this style in the upcoming year. This system allows students to identify parts of speech when using the word wall. The products I have created include a key poster, parts of speech posters, and blank cards so the teacher can add the words that they want. I will be using the blank cards to help with those words that have more than one part of speech. I have also created special lists of sight words that are available for purchase at my TPT store.
List 2 has the next 36 words on the Frys Word List.
List 3 has the last 34 words on the Frys First Word List.

Cinco de Mayo Door Decorating Contest
I had so much fun with my students creating this door. Every year I give a reading passage about Cinco de Mayo but this year my students shared some facts in a unique way. I found the title for the door on Pinterest but the students created tacos out of construction paper and wrote facts on the tacos. I showed some students how to create the decorative flowers and they had a blast. The only part I had in it was to look up the title, trace the letters, and cut out the title letters. My students worked hard and earned a pizza party! YAY!

Poetry Posters
It is time that I shared my poetry ideas. I have had the students write so much poetry this year I bet they are sick of it. We learned about many different types of poetry. I created posters as we went along in the lessons to use as displays. I always try to write my own poetry before I ask the students to do the same. You can now find my poetry posters on Teachers Pay Teachers.
There will be more about poetry to come. Here are some creative boards I have done with poetry.

STAAR Time!
As many of you know, it is now time for STAAR testing and all I can do is be nervous. My students can't help but feel this way too so I decided to create some motivational name tags or labels for them.
You can download this product on Teachers pay Teachers by clicking the link on the side of my blog. Enjoy! More to come soon!

Prefixes and Suffixes
This is the first of many project posts I will be making this week.
This is a great project for students to create new words. My students have been working on prefixes and suffixes all year, but now that it is close to testing time, I wanted them to just play around with the skills they are working on.
This is the board that I created after my students were finished.
Since this picture was taken many more have been added to the wall.
These are two close up examples of the student product.
The students used the prefixes and suffixes cards from the following packet which can be found on Teachers Pay Teachers.
The students used post it notes to write their root words and then pasted it to their construction paper. Under the post it notes they wrote what the new word means when they added their prefix or suffix. Before the students pasted, we had a conference where the students had the following attached rubric. I graded students based on their word creations, spelling, explanations of word meanings, and presentation.
I hope you enjoy this activity.

Introduction
Hello all! This is the 4th attempt at a blog and I think I really have it down this time. I have started blogs before but they disappear somehow or I forget a password and cannot connect with them anymore. To tell you a bit about myself, I am a 3rd grade teacher who just wants a place to share my creativity. Everything I post is not just about teaching but also my artsy creations. I love to make jewelry, paint, and above all, break things apart and create new things. Although my life is super stressed with being a new Mommie and my husband also being a teacher, I still strive to find the time to share my ideas. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to sharing with you all!
